May 31st 2010 Pay It Forward Vacation A Photo Of Some People Helped If you enjoy adventure vacations and helping others, save up for a trip with Pay It Forward - a travel company that combines volunteerism in disadvantaged countries with physically-challenging excursions. Business owner Jodi Nelson, 33, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, named her company after the belief that random acts of kindness have a positive, ripple effect on society. Participants spend part of their trip performing volunteer activities and the rest on athletic pursuits. The first trip was 10 days in Guatemala at a cost of $1,840 per person. Travelers took a few days to build a house before spending the remainder of their vacation kayaking, biking and hiking. "We're pushing people out of their comfort zone a little bit - physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally," Nelson explains. "It's about the exchange and connection that's made when you offer your time, your energy and your money as a full package." "I think there's a lot to be learned on both ends when that exchange occurs."

May 30th 2010 The First Ever Amputee Ball Girl A Video About Kelly Bruno A tenacious young woman impressed both fans and players as the first ever amputee ball girl at the U.S. Open tennis tournament. Kelly Bruno was born without a bone below her right knee, and surgeons removed her lower leg when she was 6 months old. But with the help of a series of mechanical limbs, she's grown into a champion athlete. In fact, her feats on the tennis court are just the latest achievements in her extraordinary career. She's also a triathlete who's successfully completed in grueling Ironman events. "Everything is a bit harder for me," Bruno admits. "But the prosthetic leg has never been a limiting factor." "I've had it all my life, so I'm used to it. It's a challenge, but I love tennis. I love watching, and I play a little bit." "I love the star players." The 24-year-old from Durham, North Carolina, was among 300 people who tried out to be a court attendant at the prestigious tournament in New York City. And she has nothing but praise for the citizens of the Big Apple. "They get so excited, and they're so encouraging," Bruno explains. "When I ride the subway, people stop to talk to me about my work as a ball person." "They give me really good feedback and say I'm an inspiration." The encouragement came in handy when she worked three grueling matches in one day. "It's a lot of sprinting and standing," Bruno says. "the hardest part is all the standing. These prosthetic feet aren't designed for quick acceleration."

May 29th 2010 Buy One House - Get One Free! A Photo Of Cindy Mann And Houses Exasperated by their inability to sell their house, a couple came up with an ingenious sales pitch - buy an exact replica of the home for $169,000 and they'll give you the real thing for free! Cindy and Gerry Mann, of Battle Creek, Michigan, wanted to retire. But they hadn't gotten a single decent offer because of the lousy real estate market that's giving heartburn to sellers around the country. After a year of frustration, Gerry got the bright idea to use the miniature reproduction of the four-bedroom, two-bath house his father-in-law, Rod Cadwell, built 15 years ago. "I thought, I have this dollhouse in my basement, let me see if I can do some creative marketing," says Gerry, 60, an assistant school superintendent. The 1-foot-to-1-inch scale model was Cadwell's labor of love for his three grandchildren. The tiny structure boasts picture-perfect details and is even wired with electric fixtures. The Manns estimate the dollhouse is worth $2,000. "We're anxious to move on with our lives and needed to think outside the box," says Cindy. Adds realtor Matt David: "I've seen some funny signs, like, 'Hey, honey, stop the car!' but I haven't seen anything like this. "It's pretty creative idea, and God bless 'em if it works."

May 28th 2010 Dogs And Cats Have Smell Power A Photo Of A Dog And Cat The phenomenon of pets sniffing out hidden diseases - and in some cases, saving their owners' lives - continues to astound the experts as more cases emerge. Pamela Plante, of Smithfield, Rhode Island, is yet another recent example. Plante had ignored the pain in her leg, but Morgan, her Yorkshire terrier, persisted in jumping on her aching limb. "After she'd jump on my leg, she'd sit and look at me and shake or shiver," Plante recalls. "I thought she was in pain, so I checked her all over and couldn't find anything wrong." "But when I put her down, she jumped on my leg again." Annoyed with her antics, Plante finally went to the doctor and was diagnosed with sepsis - a life-threatening infection that had spread throughout her body and took a week in the hospital to cure. Cats have proven to be skilled diagnosticians, too. "My mother was elderly and had insulin-dependent diabetes," says Ardis Matson, of Brookings, South Dakota. "Often, her blood sugar would go dangerously low during the night, which could have caused her to go into a coma and die. "Her cat Tuffy always slept with her, and when her blood sugar started slipping, he would nudge her, walk across her body and keep aggravating her until she'd get up and check her level." "When she was in control again, Tuffy would go back to sleep."

May 27th 2010 Rowboat Ocean Fun With Roz Savage A Video Of Her Sailing A woman who has vowed to conquer the Pacific Ocean with nothing but the strength of her arms has reached her first milestone, rowing alone from San Francisco to Hawaii. Roz Savage set out aboard her 24-foot rowboat, The Brocade, shortly before midnight and she crossed 2,600 miles in 99 days to complete the first leg of her journey. Upon reaching the Waikiki Yacht Club, the iron woman said all she wanted was a shower that worked and a bed that didn't rock back and forth. "It's taken me about a million oar strokes to get here from California," Savage explains. "If I just said, 'One little oar stroke isn't going to make any difference,' I'd still be standing in San Francisco." "What I really want to do was let people know they can make a difference. Every action counts." The former Oxford University law student hopes to raise awareness of the effects of plastic litter on the ocean, where swirling pools of pollution have formed massive "dead zones" in the open sea. Savage, a British-born 40-year-old, plans to take off from Hawaii to the South Pacific island of Tuvalu early next year, then finish her more-than-7,000-mile journey by landing in Australia in 2010.

May 25th 2010 100 Year Old Twins A Photo Of Them Twin brothers Curtis and Curran Carter were born in 1908 and have never lived more than a mile from each other. On August 29, 2008, the inseparable pair celebrated 100 years of togetherness in Warrick County , Indiana, where they own neighboring farms. The twins credit their long, healthy lives to hard work and clean living, but they admit that the world has changed a lot since they first saw the light of day. Bsck in 1908, when the Carter brothers were still in their cribs, Henry Ford launched America's love affair with the car as the first Model T rolled off the assembly line. Mother's Day was celebrated for the first time, the first-ever beauty pageant was held and a meteor slammed into Tunguska, Siberia, unleashing the force of 1,000 Hiroshima atomic bombs. It was also the year during which April 15 became the most feared date in America - the 16th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution was passed, authorizing the federal government to collect income tax. Lyndon Johnson was born two days before the Carters. Other notables born in 1908 include famed journalist Edward R. Murrow, James Bond creator Ian Fleming, pioneer heart surgeon Michael DeBakey, Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun, economist John Kenneth Galbraith and TV personality Alistair Cooke. Hollywood celebrities who made their debut in '08 include Milton Berle, Rex Harrison, Bette Davis, Jimmy Stewart and Don Ameche. But the Carter twins have topped all these luminaries - they're still alive and kicking!

May 24th 2010 Giant Spider Art Thing A Video Of The Thing Look out, Spider-Man, a bigger, badder critter's about to take over! Just kidding - neither the comicbook hero nor anyone else has anything to worry about. This guy's mechanical and part of a citywide art exhibit celebrating Liverpool, England - home of the Beatles - as a capital of culture. His dimensions are daunting, though. Weighing 37 tons and standing 50 feet high, he easily scales the side of Liverpool's Concourse Tower. But that was nothing to the excitement he caused when, a few days later and right on a predetermined schedule, he "woke up" and started to explore downtown! The amazing arachnid was built in France at a cost of $3.6 million before he was shipped to Britain and assembled in a top-secret location. And it's a good bet that those who suffer from arachnaphobia - a fear of spiders - wish one of the workers had lost a few bolts and screws in the process!

May 23rd 2010 Poisonous Recipe Recalls A Photo Of A Henbane Plant It's a tough time to be a chef-in-training - because some popular recipes can kill you! Two magazines have been forced to recall issues that contained potentially deadly dishes. In one recent interview, a celebrity chef raved about the flavor from adding wild henbane to salads. What he meant was a common weed called "fat hen" - henbane, a member of the nightshade family, is a deadly poison. Even more recently, a popular food magazine in Sweden had to recall 10,000 copies after printing a dessert recipe that left at least four adults dangerously sickened. "There was a mistake in a recipe for apple cake," Ulla Cooke, chief editor of Matmagasinet, reportedly told Agence France-Presse. "Instead of calling for two pinches of nutmeg, it said 20 nutmeg nuts were needed." Nutmeg contains the toxin myristicin, which can cause hallucinations, vomiting and circulatory collapse in large amounts.

May 22nd 2010 The Prophecy Of Johann Heidenberg A Photo Of Johann We are hurtling toward a fiery end. The final conflagration will come when the sun explodes and engulfs Earth in a cosmic tsunami of flame, leaving nothing but a charred cinder floating in the endless blackness of space. That grim prophecy was made by a monk who practiced astrology and the magic art of alchemy in the 15th century. Johann Heidenberg was just a teenager when he set out on a perilous winter journey near his hometown of Trittenheim, Germany. Trapped by a fierce blizzard, he took refuge in a Benedictine monastery. He was so captivated by the piety of the monks that he decided to stay - and by the time he was 21, he'd become the abbot of the religious sanctuary. He built the monastery into one of the great centers of learning in Medieval Europe, but he was widely condemned as a sorcerer for his fascination with astrology and alchemy. Nevertheless, these pursuits, combined with his devotion to the Christian faith, gave him uncanny insights into the future, including vision of the end times that, he wrote, would come to pass in all its horrifying reality early in the 21st century. "The sun is ruled by the Arch-angel Michael, God's avenging angel," he wrote. "In his wrath at the folly of his children, the Lord will command Michael to cause the sun to burn with great ferocity until it erupts in violence. Its searing flames will wrap themselves around Earth and bring all Creation to a bitter end. "You who live in the 21st century, pray with all your hearts that the all-powerful one will have mercy on your souls."

May 21st 2010 Solar Power From Deserts A Video About The Idea With the price of oil soaring and the environment buckling under the carbon emissions from burning gasoline, the time to take a serious look at solar power is long overdue, a leading scientist says. Governments have finally turned their attention to the most desolate places on Earth in a bid to make fossil fuels a thing of the past - and the move comes not a moment too soon, insists geologist Dr. Henry Burden. "Deserts will be the salvation of planet Earth," he says. "Right now, they're useless - endless acres of sand and burning, searing sun. But that relentless sunshine makes them our most valuable resource for the future." Burden foresees the day when deserts will bloom with arrays of solar panels, soaking up the sun's free and inexhaustible energy and converting it to electricity to power our homes, offices and factories. The desert-power revolution is beginning right here in America. Solar panels are springing up in Calofornia's Mojave Desert in a project that, when it's finished in 2011, will provide electricity to tens of thousands of homes and businesses. A similar effort, also scheduled for completion in 2011, is taking place in Gila Bend, Arizona. Others are under construction in Israel, Australia and Spain. But the granddaddy of them all will be erected in the vast expanse of the Sahara Desert. "We are closing in on the day when oil will be nothing more than a memory," Burden says. "We'll kick ourselves for not having made the switch to desert-based solar power earlier." "The era of clean, inexpensive and abundant energy is about to dawn - and its dawning over the harsh, inhospitable deserts of the world."

May 20th 2010 Future Air Travel With The Jess Heavy Lifter A Photo Of The JHL-40 A contraption that's part blimp and part helicopter will be carrying huge cargoes through the sky within the next few years. The Jess Heavy Lifter (JHL-40) will be able to hoist 45 tons and transport it 200 miles at a top speed of 80 miles per hour. It's designed to serve those industries - such as oil, mining and logging - that work in remote locations, enabling them to move massive loads without the need to build costly roads through the wilderness. Inventor Pete Jess, top dog at SkyHook International in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has struck a deal with Boeing to build the monumental aircraft and have it flying by 2012. The super-blimp is equipped with four Boeing Model 234 rotors, which combine with lighter-than-air helium to give it its prodigous lifting power. Jess admits he had to overcome a lot of prejudice to make his dream a reality, especially the notion that the JHL-40 is an overgrown toy. "You can't get around the fact it's a large envelope full of helium, and it does look a bit like a balloon," he says. "It's a blimp on steroids. It's got more than 20,000 horsepower on it - it's a serious working machine."

May 19th 2010 Lakshmi - The Hindu Goddess A Video Of A Statue Of Lakshmi An inscription on a statue of the Hindu goddess Lakshmi has inspired hope that humankind is on the brink of a new golden age of peace and prosperity. The ancient artifact was discovered buried in the ground near Sultanpur in northern India. Archaeologists date it to the 10th century. Etched on the back of the priceless relic is a prophecy attributed to Lakshmi, the Indian god of creation and destruction of all things. In terse language, it states: "Pain and suffering are no more. All will enjoy perfect health. None will go hungry. War will no longer cause woe." Professor Bagwan Gupta, an internationally recognized expert on prophecies of the cult of Vishnu, interprets the recent discovery of the statue as a sign that the prediction inscribed on it is about to come true. "In Hindu theology, nothing happens by chance," he says. "Everything has been predestined from the moment when the all-powerful Lakshmi first created the universe." "The apparently accidental discovery of the statue is not an accident at all. It is meant to give us hope that marvelous things are about to happen so that we can prepare and be fully appreciative of the god's generosity when these wondrous events begin to unfold." "Lakshmi can be portrayed as the goddess of death and destruction, but that is only one aspect of his mysterious being. He is also the god of birth and fulfillment." "The human race has suffered long enough from war, poverty and disease. Now, Vishnu tells us, it is time for us to luxuriate in a period of well being." "It is as though we are emerging from a Dark Age into an Age of Light. The gods, who once appeared distant and indifferent to our agony, will dwell among us. Earth will be transformed into a paradise and justice will prevail."

May 18th 2010 Get Ready For Advanced Tactical Laser Weapons A Video Of A Laser In Action The U.S. military is testing a laser weapon so accurate it can knock out the tires of a vehicle from 12.5 miles away. The silent airborne ray gun comes in two sizes. The smaller version, which weighs a little more than 6 tons, will be carried by a Hercules transport airplane and will be used in battlefield situations. The larger version will be employed to shoot down enemy missiles in space. The Advanced Tactical Laser uses a combination of three types of combustible gases to create a beam of infrared light that's as hot as a blowtorch but leaves no debris behind, so an enemy will never be able to tell for sure who fired it. "The target would never know what hit them," says military technology analyst John Pike. "Further, there would be no munitions fragments that could be used to identify the source of the strike."

Thanks to an ingenious system of gears, the contraption can generate plenty of torque to get you where you want to go and a dual hydraulic braking system to bring you to a halt before you go over a cliff. | May 14th 2010 Storsjoe Monster Found! A Video Of The Pictures Of It After almost 400 years of sightings, the Storsjoe Monster has finally been captured on tape! The creature is thought to be a relative of the more famous Loch Ness Monster in Scotland. The shocking image was recorded by one of six surveillance cameras set up in and around Lake Storjoe in central Sweden to document the existence of the prehistoric beast. It shows a long, serpent-like animal with a small head shaped like that of a cat or dog. The picture confirms more than 200 eyewitness sightings. "I was walking along the shore of the lake, when suddenly, this enormous snake-like creature broke through the surface of the water," says tourist Sven Hagglund. "It was huge - as big as a tractor-trailer - but for something so large, it had a very small head. It was covered with scales and had a very fierce look in its eyes." 'It began to swim toward me and, let me tell you, it can move really fast! I admit I was frightened and I ran as quickly as I could to higher ground. I didn't know if it could move on land as well as water - and I didn't want to become its lunch." "I tried to take a picture of it, but I was so nervous I dropped my camera." Officials in Jaemtland province, where Lake Storsjoe is located, plan to install more cameras, including two at a depth of 100 feet, in an attempt to take more pictures of the monster and chart its eating habits and other forms of behavior. They are especially interested in determining if it is alone or if it has a mate. "The possibility of this thing reproducing is something that is a cause of great concern," says a spokesman. |

The La Posada Hotel is one of the stateliest old buildings in historic Winslow, Arizona. Built nearly 80 years ago along the railroad and Route 66, the hacienda-style inn has played host to celebrities and dignitaries like Douglas Fairbanks, John Wayne, Howard Hughes, Albert Einstein, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour. But the most remarkable guest is the one who won't leave - even though she's long dead! "I stayed overnight at the La Posada on my way to visit my daughter in California," explains 68-year-old shopkeeper Helen Griswold, from Austin, Texas. "When I woke up in the morning, I found all the presents to my grandchildren had been carefully taken out of my shut suitcase, slipped out of their gift bags and laid across the dresser in a neat row." "I'm a light sleeper - there's no way someone could have opened the door and come in without me knowing. And nothing was missing." Insurance adjuster James Bluth, from Grants, New Mexico, recalls reading a mystery novel in his bed, rising to brush his teeth, and returning to find the book mysteriously transported outside his door. "I was puzzled, so I moved it back to my bed, locked the door and went into the bathroom again to take a shower," explains Bluth, 32. "And when I stepped out, the book was outside the room door again." "I asked the maid, and she just laughed and said it must be the ghost." "I thought she was joking until the next afternoon, when I saw her myself." Bluth was preparing to check out when he spotted a lady in white, old-fashioned clothes stepping out of a nearby room. "She looked at me with a playful smile, then started to fade away," Bluth recalls. "I snapped a photo of her with my cell phone, and then she was gone." Local historians believe the figure might be the ghost of Mary Elizabeth Jane Colter, the acclaimed architect who designed the hotel. "Whenever she's seen, she's either joking with guests ir putting things in some kind of order," explains Winslow paranormal researcher Gentrude Stembach. "It's quite possible she's still looking after her beloved building." |

May 10th 2010 Lottery Jackpot Donation A Picture Of A Random Lottery Ticket In Case You Haven't Seen One Pastor Bertrand Crabbe had just told his congregation their church was in dire need of money when a miracle happened. Crabbe had preached a sermon on how the True North Community Church in Port Jefferson, Long Island, desperately needed money to expand its facility. "Unless God drops a couple million on us..." he said. A little while later, the pastor was called to the home of one of his parishioners, who handed in a lottery ticket worth a whopping $3 million! The anonymous donor's $10 Bada-Bling scrach-off ticket had paid off big and he wanted to give all the winnings to his church. At first, Crabbe thought it was a prank, then shock set in. Finally, surprise turned to gratitude. "After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I was over-whelmed with joy," the preacher says. The church will receive $102,225 yearly until 2028 and, since one good turn deserves another, Crabbe plans to give the first year's winnings to charity before using the rest to buy a larger facility for his growing flock. "It was the best hour of our life - trying to figure out how to divvy up that money," he says.

May 9th 2010 The Lady Of The Mask Curse? A Picture Of The Lady Of The Mask Archaelogists who unearthed the mummy of a woman buried in a pyramid in Peru have unleashed a curse that has already claimed six lives - and threatens more! The Lady of the Mask, as the mummy has been nicknamed, was a noblewoman of the Wari culture, a vast tribe who ruled the area surrounding the Peruvian capital city of Lima between 500 and 1,000 AD. It was their custom to scrifice woman and children to pacify their gods of the earth and sea. The Lady of the Mask - and one of her children - met that bloody fate 1,300 years ago. They were then entombed in a sacred pyramid, where the Lady's rage smoldered until the scientists found her and her butchered child. Archaeologist Angel Herrera brushed the centuries-old dust from the mask that covered the mummy's face - and was transfixed by the piercing blue eyes that stared directly into his face. Herrera, just 39 years old and in good health, had a violent seizure and died on the spot! One by one, the five workers who were with him collapsed, frothing at the mouth, and died in agony. A dozen other scientists and workers, who entered the tomb in response to their colleagues' screams, fled in terror when they realized what had happened. They are now living in fear that the mummy's anger will also claim their lives. "The sacrificial custom of the Wari were extremely brutal," says historian Mariella Borges. "They inflicted the maximum amount of suffering on the victims before finally killing them." "They believed the more prolonged the pain experienced by the sacrificial victims - exclusively women and children of high social rank - the happier the gods would be." "This woman was obviously enraged that she and her child were selected for this atrocity, and her rage did not die with her. Her tormented spirit is set on revenge and she vented her wrath on the first people she has seen in 1.300 years."

May 8th 2010 Virgin Mary In A Tree A Picture Of The Tree A tree-bound apparition of the Virgin Mary is attracting pilgrims to an urban backyard after being credited with curing a woman's cancer. "I don't know why it's there, but I think it's a blessing," says Christopher Moreau, of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. "It raises the hair on your neck, it gives you the chills." Moreau, a 47-year-old condo superintendent, noticed the sacred formation in his neighbor's backyard tree one evening after work. "At first, I thought I was seeing things - then I went and got my mother-in-law to tell her," he recalls. His mother-in-law, who is in her 70s and lives with the family, had been struggling against lymph cancer. But after the Virgin's appearance, she received test results showing the disease had cleared! "She was overwhelmed by it," Moreau explains. "She was shaking." "Some of the neighbors have seen it and they just started shaking." Although he hopes to avoid crowds lining up outside his house, Moreau says he believes the apparition is for everyone - especially those who are ill or in need. "If it causes people seeing it to reflect on their faith, then that's not a bad thing," declares Neil MacCarthy, spokesman for the Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto. He adds that Church authorities aren't likely to officially authenticate the miraculous tree. That doesn't bother Moreau. "Why do I need to go to church?," he asks. "I feel that God has come to me."

May 7th 2010 Wedding At A Funeral Home A Picture Of The Happy Couple A pair of lovebirds started off life together where most folks end theirs - in a funeral home! Sounds like a setting for Morticia and Gomez Addams, of the hilarious 1990s comedy series, The Addams Family. Instead, the wedding at Starks and Menchinger Family Funeral Home in St. Joseph Township, Michigan, joined Jason and Rachael Storm in holy matrimony. "This room is usually filled with saddness and contemplation, but today it's filled with joy and celebration," said Rev. Greg Prather at the start of the ceremony. The odd setting was a natural for the groom - he's the funeral director! "I look at it as, if you go to a church and get married, how many caskets do you think have been rolled down that aisle?" asks Jason, 24. His bride was equally unfazed. "I'm very accustomed to what he does," adds Rachael, also 24. "The one thing I'm very much about is being unque." In fact, only a few guests were creeped out by the whole affair - which included a dinner-and-dancing reception- but they calmed down when Jason and Rachael assured everyone all corpes and caskets would be placed out of sight!

May 5th 2010 Mystery Clouds Prove Aliens Are Here?!?! Video Of The Clouds From Space Investigators with Project Black Book, the ongoing top-secret government probe into the UFO phenomenon, have discovered evidence that flying saucer exhaust is altering Earth's atmosphere! The bizarre traces of extraterrestrial technology take the form of noctilucent clouds, strange formations on the outer edges of our planet's atmosphere that have long puzzled astronomers. The name "noctilucent" means "night-glowing," because the pale blue clouds shine long after the sun has vanished below the horizon. Astronomers first spotted the unusual clouds 120 years ago, after the planet-shaking explosion of Krakatoa, a massive Indonesian volcano that sent tons of ash into orbit and triggered beautiful sunsets around the world. But over time, scientists noticed that the clouds became more concentrated in the days and weeks following another kind of unusal aerial phenomenon - sights of UFOs. "We now know noctilucent clouds form precisely where the outermost level of Earth's envelope of air brushes against the vacuum of space," explains a Black Book insider, speaking on condition of anonymity. "This is precisely the area we'd expect to see traces of large, space-going vessels punching through that envelope." Some of the closest observations of noctilucent clouds have been made by the AIM (Aeronomy of Ice in Mesosphere) satellite, which has charted their growth and examined their chemical makeup. "AIM confirmed that the occurrence of noctilucent clouds increased after every major wave of UFO activity," explains the Black Book source. "In late 2007, during a surge of activity over Texas, we registered a surge in noctilucent clouds 50 miles directly above Dallas." "And earlier this summer, a similar increase in glowing clouds took place over the islands of Great Britain." As reported before on ThePapNews, Britain currently leads the world in UFO encounters. The wave culminated in a dramatic incident on June 8th 2008, in which a UFO nearly rammed police helicopters over Cardiff, Wales. The mysterious craft reappeared an hour later over a major highway 110 miles north, in Shrewsbury, England. Close analysis of the styructure and ingredients of noctilucent clouds confirms their unearthly origins. While normal clouds are made of millions of tiny water droplets, these formations largely consist of unusally well-organized crystalline structures that include frozen water and high quantities of methane. "Methane is a major component in global warming, and a compound found in large quantities on the nearest planets believed to be capable of supporting life," explains the source. "It stands to reason that it would be a major component in atmospheric traces of a UFO, just as carbon dioxide and water are the major components in the exhaust trails left behind by jet planes." Project Black Book officials note that humanity's interest in noctilucent clouds might not have gone unnoticed by our extraterrestrial vistors. Following the Texas UFO wave of 2007, the AIM satellite recorded a new form of noctilucent cloud made of nearly invisible microscopic ice crystals - as if the exhaust had been filtered to hide it from curious eyes.

May 4th 2010 The Miss Sister Italy Pageant A Picture Of Nuns Before contestants for the Miss Sister Italy pageant even had a chance to strut their stuff, the priest organizing the beauty contest for nuns called the whole thing off. "My superiors were not happy," admits Father Antonio Rungi, of the small town of Mondragone, near Naples. "The local bishop was not happy either. But he didn't understand. The pageant was misinterpreted as more of a physical thing." "No one is saying that nuns can't be beautiful, but I was thinking about something more complete." He says the point of hosting the pageant was to dispel the myth that nuns are dour old women. But instead of competing on a stage, he invited participants to send their photos to be posted on his web site. The winner would be chosen by votes from internet users. Rungi also wanted to showcase the good works of contestants - specifically in education and health care - to pique the interests of young women who may be considering a religious vocation. "We have to draw more attention to the world of nuns, who are often not sufficiently appreciated by society," he declares. "Nuns are - above all - women, and beauty is a gift from God." The idea of a beauty pageant was enthusiastically supported by the nearly 1,000 nuns who were expected to participate.

May 3rd 2010 Cat With Wings!!! Video Of The Cat With Wings A couple of beloved kitties possess such angelic dispositions that they've sprouted wings! Feng, the owner of a sweet-tempered tom cat, says she spotted two protrusions on her cat's back during a recent hot spell. "At first, they were just two bumps, but they started to grow quickly," Feng recalls. "And after a month, there were two wings." Feng also claims her fluffy feline was stalked by sex-starved females, whose unwanted attentions seemed to accelerate the growth of the cat's bizarre appendages. "Many female cats in heat came to harass him, and the wings grew even more," says Feng, of Sichuan, China. Xu Zhaoyuan, owner of the other angelic cat, thought his pet was pregnant before he discovered her sprouting wings. He says his mild-mannered pussycat remains unfazed by the 5-inch bony growths. Veterinarians beleive the condition is the result of a genetic defect or hereditary skin disease. But not everyone agrees with their explanations. "I disagree with the experts entirely," decalres Wu Chang, a resident who's seen both cats. "They're little angels."

May 2nd 2010 The Re-Education Of The Female Video About The Book AWomen's rights advocates are fuming over a controversial new book - by a male author - that claims single gals who can't find a good man to love have only themselves to blame! "I want to express my anger and frustation as a man with women I feel are uneducated, misinformed and ill-prepared about their responsibilities in getting and maintaining a relationship with a man of quality," says Dante Moore in The Re-Education of the Female. The dreadlocked single dad claims women can only find happiness if they stay skinny, cook, clean, wear provocative outfits and obey their mate's every command. Amazingly, Moore was abandoned by his father and raised by a family of females, but the 33-year-old writer has nothing but contempt for women! In fact, he claims the only way to keep a lover is to treat her like property. "Here's a little secret, ladies," Moore writes. "Men never really ask for anything. They command." "And believe me, what you won't do, 10 broads around the corner will." Moore's chauvinistic views have ignited a firestorm of anger and resentment across the country. "How any young man could spout such backward views is incredible!" exclaims sociologist Dorothy Mannix, of Dallas, Texas. "His premise is laughable, and I can't imagine modern American women taking him seriously."
