June 30th 2010 Upside Down German House A Video Showing The House You can't raise the roof on this upside-down house, but you can sure dance on the ceiling! The topsy-turvy family-sized home on the island of Usedom, Germany, is open to the public. More than 100 visitors stepped inside during its first week - and, in most cases, immediately felt dizzy and disoriented. The carpets, chairs and tables are all stuck overhead, while light fixtures have been installed underfoot. "It was very difficult to make," says Sebastian Mikiciuk, who designed the home with partner Klausdiusz Golos for the Edutainment exhibition company. "We didn't do it for a reason," he adds. "We just wanted to do something different."

June 29th 2010 Dog Calls 911 And Saves Owner A Photo Of The Dog - Buddy A quick-thinking German Shepherd saved his owner by dialing 911 when the man had a life-threatening seizure. Emergency operators in Scottsdale, Arizona, were able to decode Buddy's whimpers and barks and send help to the home of Joe Stalnaker. He adopted Buddy from Paws with a Cause, an organization that trains service dogs. When Stalnaker started showing symptoms of a seizure, Buddy remembered his telephone training and sprang into action. "It's pretty incredible," says Sgt. Mark Clark, of the Scottsdale Police Department. "Even the veteran dispatchers - they haven't heard of anything like this." Recordings of the 911 call have Buddy whining and barking as the dispatcher asks who's calling. Stolnaker's number had been flagged in the system with a note saying that a trained assistance dog could call 911 when the owner was incapacitated. About three minutes into the 911 recording, dispatchers heard Buddy barking gratefully as police officers arrived at the home. Stalnaker spent two days recovering in the hospital, but survived.

June 28th 2010 The Lizzie Borden Lawsuit A Video About The Results Lizzie Borden, the Sunday school teacher who became the defendant in the most notorious muder trial of the 19th century, is at the center of a new legal battle. Two businesses in Massachusetts are suing each other over the right to use the name of the young woman accused and acquitted of hacking her father and stepmother to death. In Fall River, the owners of the Lizzie Borden Bed & Breakfast say they've got the right to the name because they're in the house where the ax murders took place on August 4, 1892. They're complaining that the owners of the new Lizzie Borden Museum will siphon valuable customers away. But the museum owners argue that their attraction, located in the tourist mecca of Salem, will inspire more people to travel off the beaten path to Fall River. "About 600,000 tourists come to Salem looking for the dark side of history," explains museum owner Leonard Pickel. "The majority of the people walking past our door have no idea even what state the Borden murders took place in, much less what city." "Us explaining to them that the murders happened only 80 miles south of here is going to drive traffic to Fall River." But that's not good enough for bed-and-breakfast owner Donald Woods, who insists he's got a trademark on the name "Lizzie Borden Museum." Woods has asked a judge to prevent anyone from using "Lizzie Borden" in a trade name, trade-mark or e-mail address. "It's not something we are proud of that happened, but it's a fact," says Fall River Mayor Robert Correia. "It has become a mystery that enthralls people. and to that extent, I'd love to see businesses here take advantage of that."

June 27th 2010 A Stolen Gorilla Story A Video About The Stolen Gorilla A mechanical gorilla that was swiped while standing guard outside a general store has been returned to his post with the pomp and circumstance usually reserved for heads of state. The 8-foot-tall mascot of Sunday's Sales, a flea-market shop in East Machias, Maine, disappeared on Labor Day weekend. Weeks later, officials discovered the battered and torn ape in a Vermont cornfield, where it was unceremoniously dumped by its kidnappers. After a short stay at a Vermont police barracks, the purloined primate sat proudly in the back of a pickup as a caravan of cars streamed through East Machias, led by a Washington County Sheriff's Department cruiser with the lights and siren blaring. The University of Maine ukulele band greeted the hairy hero with a rendition of Gorilla of My Dreams as he was placed by the store's front door. Authorities have no leads or suspects in the case.

June 25th 2010 Reverend Uses Movie Themes For Sermons A Video Of Rob Seagears Doing A Sermon A God fearing pastor is going Hollywood, and his pious congregation couldn't be happier! Reverend Rob Seagears, of Christ Chapel Mountaintop in Prince William County, Virginia, teaches Bible lessons by reenacting scenes from the silver screen. He's zoomed up to the pulpit on a motorcycle while wearing a Batman costume. He's cracked a whip as Indiana Jones and flexed green muscles as the Hulk. "When I went into church as the Joker, there was complete silence," Seagears recalls. "People were stunned because I was acting as if I was evil." The Summer Cinema Series takes its cues from the highest grossing movie of the previous weekend. Seagears watches the film - no matter if it's racy R-rated fare - and prays over what he's seen to find a Christian message. "We try to make church and God applicable to people's lives," Seagears explains. "It's kind of risky watching to see what the No. 1 movie is going to be and figuring out how to flip this thing for God." Church staffers hang movie posters in the auditorium where they hold services. The congregation snacks on popcorn and candy while absorbing sacred messages. The movie ministry has been a smash success - especially among teenagers - at increasing church attendance. "Before they did the cinema thing, I was like, 'Aw, I have to go to church," explains Kendel Montgomery, 15. "But now I'm like, 'Okay, it's going to be interesting,'"

June 24th 2010 Human Waste Energy In San Antonio A Video Of Jimmy Kimmel Talking About The Plan San Antonio is going green with a vengeance by converting the methane gas produced by human waste into clean-burning fuel! Steve Clouse, CEO of the local water system, says city residents produce 140,000 tons of poop a year, which can be reconstituted into natural gas to power commercial-size electric generators. "A private vendor will come onto the facility, construct some gas cleaning systems, remove the moisture, remove the carbon dioxide content, and then sell that gas on the open market," Clouse explains. San Antonio is the first American city to process human sewage on such a large scale, recycling 90 percent of what's flushed down toilets and sinks to generate power.

June 23rd 2010 Dennis Avner - Catman A Video About Catman Plastic surgery, tooth filing, facial piercing - no efforts are too extreme for the man who's become a "human tiger"! Dennis Avner, 50, of Tonopah, Nevada, says his obsession began after a Native American tribal chief advised him to "follow the way of the tiger." Avner's quest to look like a big cat has cost him big bucks and a lot of pain. Surgery including an operation to split his upper lip and another to create pointed ears. That was followed by silicone cheek and forehead implants, facial tattoos and metal piercings for attaching false whiskers. The final step was completed by a dentist, who filed Avner's top and bottom teeth to create a tiger-like bite. "I am Huron and, following a very old tradition, have transformed myself into a tiger," he declares. Avner, who prefers his Indian name "Stalking Cat," spends hours climbing trees and eating raw meat every day. But when it's time to pay the bills, he's just another working stiff plugging away in an office. As for his other human needs, he admits it takes someone special. "I'm seeing a couple of women at the moment," says Stalking Cat. "They understand that being a tiger is more important to me than humanity, which is difficult for many women to cope with."

June 22nd 2010 Florida's Frog Plague A Picture Of Frog Gang Leader Kermit An invading army of frogs is poised to sweep across America, leaving wrecked cars, poisoned tap water and widespread ecological devastation in their wake. The outbreak started in Central Florida, not far from Orlando, where torrential rains during the active hurricane season triggered a bizarre breeding frenzy among several species of tiny frogs. "At first, they just seemed cute," explains beautician Maybelle Tucker, of Sanford. "But then there were millions of them." "You couldn't turn around without stepping on one. You couldn't even go to bed without checking under the sheets first." Authorities blame the frogs for causing traffic accidents and clogging water and sewer pipes with their tiny, slippery bodies. And experts say the population boom is spreading north at an alarming rate. "I've never seen anything like this," says wildlife biologist Spence Bernard, 56. "It's like a biblical plague." "Everything came together perfectly for these frogs to start multiplying out of control. As long as they can find wet places to lay their eggs, they're just going to keep expanding out." "God knows what'll happen once they reach Atlanta - or New York."

June 21st 2010 False Diagnosis Leads To Life Savings Give Away A Photo Of Andrew Lees A father of five gave away all his worldly possessions when doctors told him he had six weeks to live. Now, they've changed their diagnosis - but he's dead broke! Andy Lees, 72, lapsed into a diabetic coma last year and was rushed to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with terminal cancer. Once he regained consciousness, he began putting his affairs in order. Lees divided his $36,000 life savings among his closest relatives and friends. His four sons and one daughter received $2,000 each, his two grandchildren received $4,000 each, and $6,000 was divided up between his dearest friends. He also paid $12,000 for his own funeral expenses, including a headstone placed at his burial site. Then Lees waited to die. And waited. And waited. A year after doctors told him he would succumb in less than two months, they changed their minds. It wasn't cancer after all. It was chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a condition that causes passages in the lungs to contrict. It's not fatal, but it does mean Lees needs a scooter to get around - if he could afford one, that is. "The doctors told me I had cancer of the liver and the lungs, I had only four to six weeks to live and there was nothing they could do for me," explains the retiree from Blackburn, England. "But they've now said they were wrong and, although I'm still very ill, I'm not dying." "I've given away my life savings because I thought I didn't need it. Now I'm absolutely broke." Medical officials have met with Lees and his family to apologize for causing any distress. Now housebound and penniless, Lees is planning to sue the hospital for their mistaken disgnosis. "My family and I went through hell," he declares.

June 20th 2010 Aluminum Light Bulbs A Random Light Bulb Picture Flexible lightbulbs that can bend to fit any surface are about to nudge their incandescent and fluorescent counterparts off the market. Incandescent bulbs are inefficient, giving off more energy in heat than in light. Fluorescents are loaded with mercury, which poisons the environment when you throw them away. Bad deal all around. Enter the aluminum light bulb. It's made of a thin sheet of lightweight metal that's been dipped in an acid bath to perforate it with tiny holes. Volts from a power source flow across the metal, generating light with minimal heat and no threat to the biosphere. The aluminum can be bent into any shape you like and the bulbs have a very long life span. Not only will they illuminate our homes and businesses, they can also clear up the skin condition psoriasis, says physicist Gary Eden, of the University of Illionois. The disease is incurable, but certain wavelengths of light can send it into remission. "What we are envisioning is a phototherapeutic bandage sold over the counter," Eden explains. "Someone with the disease could attach the flexible lamp around the affected area with Velcro and plug it in."

June 19th 2010 Robotic Snake A Video Of Robot Snake A giant robotic serpent is charming the pants off spectators at a science exhibit in London - and paving the way for future advances in robot technology. The 6-foot-long reptile incorporates two break-throughs. It has a "muscle actuation mechanism" that uses built-in air valves to give it an extremely large range of movement and better control. It also has unique sensors that allow it to interact with its environment in a more natural, intuitive way than other robots. The snake demonstrates its unique abilities by dancing for you, responding to your moves like Fred Astaire to Ginger Rogers. "This is an elegant robotic structure with human presence and the ability to express emotions through articulate combinations of snake-like movements," says choreographer Sophia Lycouris. "By detecting the characteristics of movement, Snake Robot invites its audience to engage in spontaneous dance duets."

June 18th 2010 Printing Buildings! A New Showing The Process An ink-jet printer does its job by laying down layers of ink on a piece of paper. No big deal, but scientists at the University of Southern California have modified and enlarged the technique to create a device that can "print" a concrete building in a single day. 3-D printing is already used to make small plastic objects, but Behrokh Khoshnevis and his colleagues see no reason why the process can't be extended to other types of manufacturing. Their prototype has just built a wall with no human intervention and they have the necessary software to program future versions to throw up more elaborate structures. All you have to do is feed the plans for the building into a computer, connect the computer to the massive "printer" and watch while the printheads lay down layer after layer of concrete until the building takes shape before your eyes. The inventors say it's cheaper, safer and less environmentally demaging than traditional contruction methods and NASA is interested in using the concept to build space stations on the moon and Mars.

June 17th 2010 Lilypad Cities! A Video About The Lilypad Cities Melting polar ice caps due to global warming is causing sea levels to rise around the world. Experts predict that by 2100, oceans will be 3 feet higher than they now are - and that spells disaster for coastal areas, including major cities such as New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Miami. Where are all the millions of people living in these bustling metropolises to go when the land they now inhabit is submerged under water? They'll pull up anchor and go live in floating cities, if one visionary architect can make his dream come true. Vincent Callebaut has designed one of these "Lilypad Cities," which he claims can accommodate 50,000 people. He foresees the day when thousands of these totally self-sustaining habitats will be floating around the world. Each city will be built around a lake that will collect and purify rainwater. There will be three harbors where ships can dock. Hanging plants and artificial mountains will provide variation in scenery. All power will be derived from renewable sources - the sun, wind and tides - and the city will give off no toxic emissions. There will be no roads and no vehicles, since everything will be easily accessible within walking distance.

June 15th 2010 Alien Cattle Theft A Totally Real Photo Of A UFO Stealing A Cow An angry farmer is demanding the U.S. government pay him for a herd of cattle swiped by aliens! "It was bad enough when those weird crop circles appeared on my place last spring," fumes Luke Trainor, of Texarkana, Texas. "Then slowly but surely, cows turned up missing from the area." Trainor thought rustlers were responsible and set up an early-morning trap to catch them. "But it weren't no rsutlers - leastways, not the human kind of varmint who takes your stock," declares the 69-year-old rancher. "I was on watch above the pasture and just after daybreak, this silver disc swooped down from the sky, hovered over the largest circle and a bright light sucked the heifer standing there right up into the belly of the UFO." "I had my rifle, but seeing that animal in mid-air froze me dead in my tracks." Next, Trainor watched helplessly as a $2,500 bull slowly glided up the light into the bowels of the spaceship. "Those aliens have it down pat," he says. "They snatched 10 heifers and five steers - along with Mojo, my prize-winning bull - in about two minutes flat!" Trainor finally got his wits about him and fired on the UFO, but his bullets bounced off its shiny exterior. Finally, the doors of the UFO slammed shut and it streaked out of sight. "I served in the artillery, but I don't think a Howtizer could have took that thing down," Trainor angrily declares. "Now, it's up to the government to do what's right." "I want protection from those extraterrestrial bums and money to cover my losses, too."

June 13th 2010 Angel Saves Pilot? A Random Picture A professional pilot and aerial photographer was saved from a life threatening plane crash by the sudden apparition of his guardian angel. Vince Koorman, 45, of Miramar, Florida, was flying his small private plane over the Atlantic Ocean and taking photographs of clouds when his engine suddenly started sputtering. "The plane has two gas tanks, and all the gauges were reading full or near full, but the plane was acting like it was running out of gas," Koorman says. "I tried everything I could, but the engine just went dead on me." "I was terrified, I'll tell you that!" Koorman's single engine aircraft was more than 5,000 feet above the ocean and dropping fast. The nearest airport was miles away. "I've been flying for most of my adult life, and I knew that without an engine, my only chance was to try to stay in a controlled glide, put down in the water and hope for the best," Koorman explains. "I'd never actually done anything like it before." But as Koorman frantically tried to restart the plane, he felt suddenly buoyant as a brilliant blue light streamed into the cockpit. "I looked out the window and there she was, standing on one of the clouds just off the left wing," the pilot recalls. "It was an angel watching me in mid-air." "Everything was suddenly peaceful - it was like time stopped. As I stared at her in disbelief, the angel opened her wings, then slowly faded away." "Next thing I knew, the engine roared back on and I was able to fly to a landing strip." "As soon as I touched down, the engine died again. Mechanics say I'd had a spontaneous electrical failure and that I was lucky to be alive." "I know it's only because someone was looking out for me up there that I'm still around to tell the tale." Koorman says although he's never attended church regularly, he now prays daily - and says a special prayer every time he takes off.

He Pingping, the tiny Mongolian, measures only 29.37 inches tall - barely enough to come up to the knees of stately Russian Svetlana Pankratova, whose gams go on for 51.96 inches! She's not the tallest woman in the world. That honor is reserved for Chinese giantess Yao Defen, who stands 7 feet 9 inches tall. But at 6 feet 7, Pakratova is no slouch - her relatively short body is supported by legs that practically last forever. Even a relatively modest dress looks like the world's shorest miniskirt when Pankratova puts it on - a fact that He Pingping, 20, couldn't help but notice. The two record holders met on the steps of the National Gallery in London to help launch the latest edition of the Guinness World Records with editor Craig Glenday. "It's a great job," Glenday raved. "Earlier this year, I did my own world record for travel, which was 44 hours nonstop." | June 10th 2010 Atlantis Found? A Video About The Atlas Mountains Mysterious relics prove that the advanced civilization of Atlantis was real - and was wiped out by a massive, prehistoric tsunami! Archaeologists working in Morocco's Atlas Mountains unearthed vessels and statuettes that show signs of having been underwater at one time. The artifacts are unlike any created by ancient Egyptians or Greeks, and are made from an unusually durable material. "Most ancient pottery or artwork requires special handling to keep it from crumbling in our hands," explains Dr. Friederich Hollemann, of Hanover, Germany. "But these are solid as modern Pyrex or Corningware." "In fact, we've had trouble obtaining samples of the artifacts directly for radiocarbon dating. But we have successfully scraped off a thin layer of barnacles and oceanic sediment, which reveal that these items were underwater 12,000 years in the past. "Now, we must ask how relics that were in the ocean so long ago came to be on high mountainsides miles from the water." Hollemann's team has discovered geological evidence that the entire region around the Straits of Gibraltar, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean, was slammed by an unusually powerful earthquake and tsunami. He believes more relics of a technologically advanced civilization are waiting to be discovered in the mountains of North Africa. "The earliest known accounts of Atlantis describe an advanced civilization living on an island that is abruptly swallowed by the sea," Hollemann explains. "Our findings show this was no myth, but a true account of a disastrous historical event - possibly the greatest natural disaster ever to strike in human history." A German seismological team is currently planning a survey of the Mediterranean basin to discover what caused the ancient tsunami - and to determine if it could happen again. |

When Dr. Stanley Biber established his groundbreaking practice in Trinidad in 1969, it was the nation's first for gender reassignments. Before long, he was performing hundreds of operations on patients from across the country and around the world. "Gender is from the shoulders up," says Dr. Marci Bowers, who took over the practice in 2003. "It's what you think of yourself inside." "The reason why people pursue hormones and surgery is when the outside doesn't match the inside." Bowers speaks from experience - she underwent sex-change surgery in 1998! "It got down to the point where it was either suicide or surgery," explains Rebecca Jamison, who recently went from male to female at age 37. "We're regular people just like everyone else. We're trying to deal with a serious issue that quite often leads to suicide." "We run the risk of losing family, friends, our children and even our lives just for trying to be who we are." |

Kim Petras was born a boy, but began referring to herself as a girl when she was only 2. By the time she was 12, she'd convinced her parents to stop calling her Tim and start giving her hormone treatments. "I suppose it took me longer than my wife to accept it," says dad Lutz. "But Kim is a very persuasive girl. She knows what she wants and how to get it." Now, the sassy 16-year-old blonde has overcome years of bullying from schoolmates to become a spokesmodel for a salon chain. She's also a hit on the Internet, where thousands of teenagers have heard her sing. "My music is what's most important to me at the moment," Kim declares. "It's the way I can best express myself." Top record producer Fabian Gorg has big plans for his young client. "When we heard Kim's voice and some of her compositions, we knew we had to sign her," Gorg says. The German teen now has high hopes that becoming a pop singer will erase the sad memories of being a girl trapped in a boy's body. "I know that because of my past, people will always bring up the subject of transsexuals," she says. "But I hope that one day, I might be better known for my music than for my past." |

June 6th 2010 The Bunyip Of Kootenai National Forest A Video Of A Coin Operated Bunyip A Montana rancher spent a terrifying night fighting for his life against a colossal creature unlike any known to science. Experts have compared Alex Dubay's account of a rhinoceros-sized animal with a long neck, bird-like claws, coarse fur and razor-sharp fangs to descriptions of a monstrous creature known as a "bunyip" in Australia. "The creature Mr. Dubay encountered is absolutely unique in North America," explains zoologist Henry Genelach. "If we're able to capture a living specimen, it could turn everything we know about American ecology on its ear." But Dubsay says that bringing a specimen back would be nearly impossible. Here is his dramatic story of survival: I've seen plenty of big predators- wolves, grizzly bears - while riding the fence around our family outfit. That's part of the job. But nothing ever compared to this. I was setting up camp at sunset when my horse started acting restless. We were halfway up a hillside in some rugged terrain. Just over the fence, the woods get really thick - it's pretty much an extension of the Kootenai National Forest. On the far side of the hill, there's a creek running into a good-sized pond. I could hear something big splashing around in there, so I took my .308 rifle, slipped between the barbed wire and hiked up to take a look. It was waiting for me up in the trees. It moved like a weasel, but was more than 20 feet long and must have weighed have a ton. When it lifted its horse-like head, I saw it had fangs the size of my arm. The thing made this weird, deep croaking kind of growl. I could tell it was getting ready to spring. I fired a shot, but it barely broke the skin above its left eye. It reared up. I could see beads of water running down the scales on its legs. Its feet looked like a vulture's claws. I could feel the fear rising up in the back of my throat as I ran back toward camp, hearing the thing running after me. I rolled under the fence, ran to my campfire, grabbed a burning branch and held it like a torch. I watched the thing snap three strands of barbed wire with one step. All night long, the fire would burn down, it'd circle closer, I'd throw on more wood and it'd pull back into the shadows. After what seemed like forever, the sun started coming up. The thing grunted like an angry hog and slid back into the woods. I picked up my rifle and squeezed off a few shots, but it just shrugged them off. When I told other folks what I'd seen, most didn't believe me, but my granddad said he remembered a few hands going missing near that hill about 40 years ago or so. And I know I didn't imagine the footprints that thing left, the knocked-over trees it left behind or the damage it did to my fence. I'm not even sure I want to know what that thing was - as long as I never have to see it again in my lifetime!

June 5th 2010 Jesus Shroud - The Truth? A Video About The Shroud A devout couple has persuaded researchers to take a new look at the Shroud of Turin, in another effort to prove the true age of the ancient burial cloth imprinted with the miraculous image of Jesus Christ. Physicist John Jackson, 62, and his wife Rebecca, 60, have dedicated their lives to investigating the Shroud, and recently won approval from Oxford University to take the burial cloth for a new round of radiocarbon testing. Previous tests, performed in 1988, indicated that the fabric was made between 1260 and 1390 - more than a thousand years after Christ's death. But other tests have certified that the bloodstains are real, and that the weaving pattern was identical to one used during the time of Christ. "There is a lot of other evidence that suggests to many that the Shroud is older than the radiocarbon dates allow, and so further research is certainly needed," explains Christopher Ramsey, head of the Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit, which participated in the original radiocarbon tests. "Only by doing this will people be able to arrive at a coherent history of the shroud that takes into account and explains all of the available scientific and historical information." Jackson believes the cloth was contaminated by high levels of carbon monoxide before being examined, throwing the results off by 1,300 years. Experts from Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico have also presented evidence that linen samples from the Shroud had been contaminated by material used to patch the fabric during the Middle Ages. "It's the radiocarbon date that, to our minds, is like a square peg in a round hole," Jackson explains. "It's not fitting properly, and the question is why." Jackson's scientific background may seem at odds with his religious faith, but the former Air Force Weapons Laboratory professor sees science and religion as perfectly compatible. "How I think about the Shroud comes from the Shroud," he explains. "It's not, 'Gee, I'm a Christian, so I'll force it to be what I want it to be.' That's not scientific logic." "If you love Christ, why wouldn't you want to explore the possibility that you have an artifact of His material existence on Earth?" Jackson has been curious about the Shroud since he first saw its likeness at age 13. His research led him to his wife Rebecca, a former Orthodox Jew who converted to Christianity. She'd been researching the Shroud since she saw it in a 1990 documentary and thought the face resembled her grandfather. The next phase of their experiments involves preparing samples of linen cloth, exposing them to carbon monoxide and seeing if they give similar results to the previously tested Shroud samples.

June 4th 2010 Ban On Psychics Lifted In Vermont A Random Picture Of Tarot Cards Psychic practitioners in a small New England town are breathing a sigh of relief now that their special gifts are legal! In 1966, government officials in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, banned anyone who could contact spirits, putting mediums, fortune tellers, clairvoyants, palm readers - even astrologers on the wrong side of the law. "When the ordinance was lifted, I actually felt a large weight lifting from my shoulders," says Maria Pawlowski, a tarot card reader. "It was very oppressive to have to refrain from something that was as natural to me as breathing." St. Johnsbury authorities claim the mandate protected consumers from con artists, but psychotherapist Jean O'Neal fought to overturn the ordinance because it outlawed the ancient Chinese practice of feng shui, which she uses in her practice. "I said something needs to be done about this," O'Neal recalls. "It was ridiculous." Charles Haynes, a senior scholar with the First Amendment Center in Washington, D.C., believes the harsh anti-psychic laws found across the country are examples of tyrannical officials run amok. "People have the right to believe in these things and to predict the future, to say what they think and even charge money for it," Haynes declares. "The government has no power to determine whether or not these people are committing fraud." "We have people who predict what the stock market is going to do. We also have people who predict the weather and get paid for it."

June 3rd 2010 Seniors Get Unique Experience A Video Of The Roo A menagerie of dogs, cats, bunnies, birds - even a baby kangaroo - are spreading love and excitement as the newest residents of nursing homes across America. "Animals are all-accepting," explains Noralyn Snow, administrator of Silverado Senior Living Aspen Park Community in Salt Lake City, where Marlee the kangaroo lives. "They don't care about what ever issues a person might have." "And having pets around adds spontaneity." Many of the furry or feathered friends were rescued from shelters, while others are the pets residents brought with them. "People grow up with animals, have had them all their lives, and now that this is their home, why wouldn't they have pets?" asks Helene King, communication coordinator for Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital in Baltimore. "It makes such a big difference in their lives." The basic philosophy behind resident pets is called the Eden Alternative, a worldwide program that integrates animals, plants and visits from children into the daily life of senior facilities. "Animals reengage people with life," says Silverado CEO Loren Shook. "Having animals in our facilities reduces the need for antidepressant and tranquilizer drugs by 35 percent." Marlee is a perfect example of how an animal can generate a positive hubbub among lonely or bored seniors. "The novelty of a kangaroo creates lively reactions and discussions," Shook declares. Permitting the elderly to bring their pets along to a new environment also makes a tough transition go much smoother. "He is my family," says resident Doss Dean of his dog Gygi. "He keeps me company. He makes me smile." Adds Snow: "They've given up so much. But they don't have to give up their best friend." As for the small number of residents who aren't animal lovers, the pets seem to spot them instinctively. 'The animals figure out really fast who to go to and who not to," Snow says.

June 2nd 2010 UFO Behind 1908 Siberia Explosion? A Video About It A gigantic explosion that flattened a forest in Siberia a century ago remains a topic of furious debate as to whether an asteroid or a UFO caused the devastating blast! Some researchers say an asteroid the size of a football stadium, traveling at seven miles a second, was the cause. But they can't explain why the impact didn't leave a crater. Meanwhile, experts in extraterrestrial phenomenon believe the well-meaning but clumsy crew of a UFO was the source of the June 30, 1908, eruption. "They used an alien weapon to destroy the asteroid before it could impact Earth," says Dr. Yuri Slovanik. "Unfortunately, their aim was a bit off." This theory gained more support with recent discovery of wreckage from the doomed spaceship.

June 1st 2010 Scarecrow Town USA A Video About The Record There's a population explosion going on in Hoschton, Georgia. The town's 1,700 human residents are being elbowed out by scarecrows, and if antique dealer Robbie Betts and her husband, Fred, get their way, there'll be 4,000 straw-stuffed dummies on hand by the time the fall festival rolls around. Betts is leading an effort to break the Guinness Book of Records mark for the Most Scarecrows in One Location. The current title-holder is the Cincinnati Horticultral Society, which accumulated 3,311 scarecrows for their 2003 Flower and Farm Fest. Hoschton's scarecrows come in all shapes and sizes - the cast of the Wizard of Oz, Elbvis, a scuba diver, the entire Georgia Bulldogs football team and even a stuffed Jesus - presumably to frighten off any satanic crows that might try to make a landing. Don't even think about messing with the straw men - two guys caught knocking over a couple of scarecrows were sentenced to make 25 more of them or be jailed for trespassing.
