June 28th 2011![]() Back From My Vacation To Chicago... So Now What? A Picture Of A Chicago Style Hotdog It was a really fun trip and I had such a great time getting to know the amazing city of Chicago. There is a part of me that is truely aching right now to just get back to the streets and walk about the wonders that make up one of the finest cities in the world. As much as I want to be walking Clark Street right now... that just isnt going to be an immediate possibility. BUT, anything that is worth doing can and should be done... all it takes is determination and a white hot passion to be where and with who you want to no matter the obstacles or curveballs life throws at you. With that said.. now what? Well, I thought about it and I will keep the site running. I mean it was still getting at least 50 hits a day during the whole week I wasn't editing so I must be doing something right. We did drop from the top 200,000 websites in the world ratings but it really doesn't matter to me what we rank anymore, been there done that, its all pretty pointless if you don't enjoy what you are doing. With that said I will be doing a more personal angle with the content posted. Tomorrow, I will start with an article about a food I absolutely love now - the Chicago-style hotdog (pictured above). News and format will all be changed around and I plan to try out a few new things. Stay tuned for some fun and I will be sure to share some of the great pictures I captured during the week of bliss. Heh. |

| June 10th 2011 A Kangaroo, A Goat And A Vacation A Picture Of The Aftermath All a Wisconsin couple wanted to do was get away from the icy northern winter and enjoy a few weeks of sunshine in Florida, but their "vacation" left them longing for the white, white snow of home. Larry and Diana Moyer run an exotic animal facility in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, and they took their two favorite critters - a kangaroo named Jack and a crippled goat named Edward - along for the ride south. Things got off to a rocky start. Every time they crossed a state line, they had to register Jack and Edward and get licenses for them. Their creaky recreational vehicle broke down three times en route. Finally, a new alternator solved that problem and they arrived in Pinellas County, Florida. They were getting settled when Larry, 57, suffered a minor stroke and had to spend three days in a hospital. After he was released, he and Diana found a secluded spot to park their RV so they could do a little fishing and just relax. No chance. The vehicle had an electrical short circuit, burst into flames and was reduced to a charred hulk. This time, it was Diana's turn to end up in the hospital - for smoke inhalation. Larry, Jack and Edward, who lost the use of his front legs in an accident and has to hobble around on a makeshift cart, were unharmed, but the fire left them all homeless. The local Red Cross found them a motel that accepted Edward as a guest, but they had to put Jack in a wildlife rescue sanctuary. They bought a second-hand Volvo, hoping it would get them back to Wisconsin, with Edward in the back seat and Jack - all 60 pounds of him - curled up on Diana's lap. Why take a vacation with a goat and a kangaroo? "They are like family," Larry says. "Jack even goes to the movies with us. He sits there and eats popcorn." Ringo Has Been Gone 24 Days |

| June 9th 2011 Nine Years On The Queen Elizabeth 2 A Video About Muller's Trip When the legendary luxury liner Queen Elizabeth 2 docked in Dubai at the end of her retirement voyage, one passenger left with an especially heavy heart. Beatrice Muller, 89, was the ship's only full-time passenger. "Why should I go back on land, go home to my vacuum cleaner to keep house?" asks Muller. "I've been on this wonderful ship off and on for 14 years." "This is now my only home - I'm looking for a new home at sea." Muller, from Bound Brook, New Jersey, first boarded the QE2 in 1995 with her husband, Bob. She wasn't looking forward to the trip. "It sounded snobbish and pushy, with lots of furs and fancy jewelry," she explains. "I thought it would be no fun at all." But like many other travelers through the years, she fell in love with the cruiding life. For the next four years, she and Bob took a world cruise every year. Then, in 1999, her husband died aboard the ship. Muller realized she didn't have any reason to ever leave. She sold her home and used the money to finance a non stop passage. "My sons are delighted I'm here and out of their hair," she explains. For around $7,000 a month, Muller rented a windowless fourth-deck cabin - a price that included housekeeping, gourmet meals, ballroom dancing, a fresh New York Times over tea every morning and regular visits to some of the world's most breathtaking destinations. "They don't try to organize you like they do in senior citizen homes," she says. "I'm a hard person to organize." Butin November 2008, the ship that had carried 2.5 million passengers over 6 million miles was sold to developers in Dubai, where the luxury liner will be converted to a floating hotel. "The only real liner left in the world is the Queen Mary 2," Muller says. "That would be the place to turn." "It would be very hard to pick up life on land again." Ringo Has Been Gone For 23 Days |

| June 8th 2011 Jules The Face Of The Future A Video Of Jules One day soon, your BFF(best friend forever) may be a robot! Talking robots are nothing new, but until engineers created "Jules," they just didn't seem human enough to establish emotional bonds with the people who interact with them. Jules has two extremely sensitive video cameras in his eyes that pick up every subtle movement of your face. His programming then translates that information into a series of signals that activate tiny motors under his skin, enabling him to mimic your facial expressions while the two of you chat away with each other. If you're happy, Jules will look happy. If you're angry, he'll look just as miffed as you feel. The result is a new level of communication between man (or woman) and machine that incorporates the emotional responses we expect to see when we're dealing with other humans. When the scientists at Bristol University perfect Jules, he and others like him will be able to provide human-like companionship for astronauts on long space voyages, elderly shut-ins ... anyone who needs a sympathetic friend to talk to. | June 7th 2011 Ants And Traffic Jams A Video About It Bazillions of ants swarm around the average nest without clogging up the narrow underground passageways. And when is the last time you saw a bunch of ants standing in line, twiddling their thumbs? Never. Their tiny, power-packed brains - the typical ant brain has an impressive 250,000 cells - are equipped to avoid traffic congestion under the most extreme conditions. Professor Dirk Helbing and his colleagues at the Dresden University of Technology in Germany constructed an experiment to find out how ants manage to pull off this amazing feat of traffic control. Now, they plan to incorporate their findings into artificial brains for cars that will allow your vehicle to communicate with others on the road and automatically find the least congested route to your destination. | June 6th 2011 Wind Power Helps Ocean Life! A Picture Of Windmill President Barack Obama has pledged to force utility companies to invest heavily in wind power to ease our dependence on foreign oil and reverse some of the damage we've been doing to the environment by burning fossil fuels. A scientist in Norway claims wind power may have a hidden benefit - it will help fish and other forms of ocean life renew their depleted populations. Offshore wind farms are almost unheard of in America, but they're catching on like wildfire in Europe. Goran Brostrom, of the Norwegian Meteorological Institute in Oslo, has been studying them and he's concluded that a modest-sized wind farm - a series of windmills erected in coastal waters - can alter the water currents surrounding them by 3.3 feet per day. It doesn't sound like much, but it's enough to bring oxygen-rich water up from the depths to feed plankton, which, in turn, will provide abundant food for sea creatures that live close to the surface. | June 3rd 2011 Oswald And Jim Leavelle A Video On Leavelle You might not remember Detective Jim Leavelle's name, but you're bound to know his face - looking on in horror as Jack Ruby shoots Lee Harvey Oswald in one of the most famous photographs in American History. Leavelle, now 88 and retired from the Dallas Police Department, was handcuffed to the suspected assassin of President John F. Kennedy on November 24, 1963. Officials were transporting Oswald, who had shot police officer J.D. Tippit while fleeing from the Texas School Book Depository, from the station's interrogation room to the county jail. Oswald had already been targeted by dozens of death threats. Leavelle remembers what he said as he snapped the cuffs from his wrist to Oswald's. "I said to Lee, 'If someone shoots at you, I hope they're as good a shot as you are,'" Leavelle recalls. "He smiled. I think it was the only time he did." When Ruby, a Chicago nightclub owner, stalked into the police basement, Leavelle saw the .38 caliber pistol before Oswald did. He tried to jerk Oswald behind him, but the sudden maneuver only exposed Oswald's body more. Ever since that moment, preserved in time by a reporter's camera, Leavelle has had to explain to investigators and curiosity seekers how he came to be chained to America's most notorious murder suspect. He also dismisses the ongoing theories that JFK was targeted by a conspiracy, explaining that the number of people who claimed to be on the grassy knoll when the president was shot could fill the Cotton Bowl. | June 2nd 2011 The Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge A Video Of The Bridge One of the political legends of the 1960s has received a high honor - a bridge in NewYork City. The Triborough Bridge, connecting Manhattan, Queens and the Bronx, was renamed the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge. The ceremony included a convoy of lovingly restored antique cars carrying three generations of the Kennedy family across the span, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his mother, Ethel, leading the way. In the ceremonies at Astoria Park, former President Bill Clinton declared that before his 1968 assassination, Robert F. Kennedy reminded Americans "that together, we can cross any divide and overcome any adversity, as long as we do it together." "Every time we cross the bridge, if we remember that, it's the greatest honor we could ever do to his legacy." Kennedy, who represented New York in the Senate, was a Democratic presidential candidate when he was gunned down in a California hotel 40 years ago. "Like the great bridge that stretches above us, he tied us together," explained New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. "People of every color, every class and every creed." "He united us as Americans in the common cause of social justice." Ringo Missing For 16 Days |

| June 1st 2011 Brad Pitt And The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button A Trailer For The Movie Superstar Brad Pitt made a stunning transformation from his normal look to wrinkled old man for his latest movie role. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, a fanciful fable written by F.Scott Fitzgerald in the 1920s, is the tale of a man who's born in his 80s and ages backward to infancy. The heart of the story is a romance between Benjamin and his sweetheart, played by actress Cate Blanchett. Pitt, who is divorced from Jennifer Aniston and is currently Angelina Jolie's live-in love, was leery of playing the lead at first. "I really didn't want to do it," he recalls. "I've had my foray into romance and it didn't go well for me." "The script was beautiful, but I didn't think I was right for it." Determined director David Fincher eventually convinced the actor that he was perfect for the part. The film, set in New Orleans, follows Button's journey as a tiny, wizened infant abandoned by his mother in 1918 to the end of his life at the beginning of the 21st century. The rest of the article is a bunch of rubbish and I will have no part in typing it. :P Ringo Has Been Missing 15 Days |
